Despite paralyzing traffic, provocative nightlife and oppressive heat during the country’s hot season, Bangkok is known as “The City of Angels.” Crowded with statues of Hindu gods and golden temples pointing toward heaven, it’s easy to see why. Buskers in Bangkok, though, are not limited to religious or traditional modes of expression. Modernity and obvious international influences make up a vibrant artistic scene in the city. The popularity of busking in Thailand is evidenced by an annual street performer’s festival that takes place every December.
