Budapest, Hungary
What do Rubik's Cube, Shepard Dancing, public baths, Beef Goulash, and paprika bring to mind? Budapest. The city connects the east and west sides of the Danube River and is known for its many world heritage sites. Because of its many annual celebrations, Budapest is sometimes known as "The City of Festivals." Like many other cities worldwide, buskers in Budapest have to take a yearly exam to perform. The exams take place at an annual festival where artists are invited to perform in front of a jury. In addition to modern forms of expression, the artists who participate often perform Hungarian folk dance or music. Instruments played include accordions, harmonicas, jaw harps, and dulcimers.
